Yes, Ledn uses Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to enhance the security of your account. 2FA provides an extra layer of protection, reducing the risk of unauthorized access by requiring two forms of verification. This article explains how 2FA works and why it’s important for keeping your account secure.
What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
2FA is a security process that requires two separate verification steps before you can log in to your account:
Step 1: Enter your email and password.
Step 2: Confirm your identity using an additional authentication method (text message, authenticator app, hardware key, or passkey).
What types of 2FA are Available at Ledn?
Text messages (SMS): When logging in, you will receive a one-time verification code via SMS text message. Enter this code along with your password to access your account.
Authenticator app (TOTP): This method uses an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator or Authy) to generate a unique time-based one time password (TOTP).
Phishing-resistant keys: This method uses a passkey or a hardware key to verify your identify. These are the highest level of protection you can use to protect your Ledn account. We strongly recommend using a passkey or hardware key
How to Enable 2FA on Your Ledn Account?
Log into Your Account:
Visit www.ledn.io and log in using your email and password.
Go to the Security Settings:
Once logged in, navigate to the top right corner of your dashboard and select “Security” from the drop-down menu.
Enable 2FA:
Choose your preferred 2FA method, we strongly recommend using a phishing resistant method such as passkeys or hardware keys. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
If you select a hardware key we recommend adding 2-3 keys. You are responsible for supplying the hardware key(s).
Confirm Your 2FA Settings:
Once 2FA is enabled, you will be required to enter an authentication code or authenticate using a passkey or a hardware key each time you log in to your Ledn account.
Why Should You Use A Phishing-Resistant Key?
While text message (SMS) 2FA offers basic protection, using a phishing-resistant key such as a passkey or hardware offers superior protection and faster logins. They require a physical device to be present and are domain-bound meaning they won’t work on a fraudulent website.
What to Do if You Lose Access to Your 2FA Method?
If you lose access to your phone or authenticator app, visit the Help Center to learn how to recover your account and regain access. Clients who lose access to their 2FA method should submit a request to our support agents.
